The first day, you drive to the town of Harrar (walled and Islamic holy city) and get transferred to hotel. During the night time you visit the Hyena man performance where hyenas are feed by a man. Next day, you visit the main gets of the city called “Jegol Ginb”. On the next day, you visit the famous French poet Arthur Rimbaud’s House and Harrari Museum. Then, you drive to Dire Dawa by visiting Awedaye Chat market and Lege Oda Primitive Cave Paintings. On the same day, you drive to Awash. On third day you will come back to Addis Ababa After visit of Awash National park.

A historical walled city of Harrar in eastern Ethiopia was a major trading crossroads and a center of Islamic learning .Its protective wall was built between the 13th and 16th centuries .The wall or Jugol ,which is still intact is about 4mhigh and pierced by five gates. The town is famous for the unique layout of its houses. The narrow winding street of Harrar contains over 90 mosques and conceder it to be the fourth holiest city of Islam.

Harar registered as world heritage site in 2006.


 
Itinerary

Day 01:

Arrive at Addis Ababa and transfer to Hotel

Overnight: Jupiter hotel (4*)

Day 02:

Morning pick-up from your hotel in Addis Ababa and drive across the rift valley to Harar. In the evening, you attend the hyena-man performance.

Meals plan: Breakfast /Lunch/Dinner

Overnight: Heritage Plaza Hotel.

Day 03:

Tour of the Walled City of Harar, these includes visit of the old wall; 5m-high wall was erected by Nur Ibn al-Wazir Mujahid. In addition to the wall and its gates, you visit a typical Harari house, the Harari Museum and the house of the famous French poet, Arthur Rimbaud.

Overnight: Heritage Plaza Hotel.

Day 04:

In the morning, drive to Dire Dawa to visit Lege Oda Primitive Cave Paintings. En-route, you will have a short stop to visit Aweday chat market. Then, drive to Awash National Park.

Overnight: Awash Falls Lodge.

Day 05:

Game drive in the Awash National Park to visit Awash River gorge and Awash River Falls. The thorny bushes of Awash National Park supports not only beautiful birds but also some mammals such as Beisa Oryx, Sommering’s Gazelle, Salt’s Dik Dik, Warthog, Black backed Jackal, Hamadriyas Baboon, Greater and Lesser Kudus. Then, return to Addis Ababa. In the evening, you will be invited farewell dinner in one of the best traditional restaurants of the capital with a show of folkloric music and dances of the different Ethiopian people. Then, transfer to the airport for your departure flight. End of service.
