Overview

Title: Omo Valley Region with flight to Arbaminch on Friday

Tour Code: TST 2020

Duration: 9 nights and 10 days

Included visits/activities

On the first day of your arrival, you meet our representative to get transferred to hotel. On the next day, you fly to Arbaminch and have boat trip on Lake Chamo where you have the opportunity to see the great Nile crocodiles and Hippos. Then, you visit typical Konso and Erbore villages. Next, you have an excursion to Koricho village to visit the Karo people who are famous for their body painting. On Monday, you have another excursion to Omorate to visit the Dassenetch people who have unique hair style. Up on your return, you visit the Turmi market where you meet the Hammer and Benna people. On Tuesday, you visit Dimeka market where you have access to see different tribes of the surroundings in one spot. In the afternoon, you visit the South Omo Research Center. Today, you drive across the heart of Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe whose women have a distinctive culture of inserting geometrical lip plates in the slits of their lower lips. In the same afternoon, you visit the fertile village of the Ari. On Thursday, while you are traveling to Arbaminch, en route you visit Keyafer Market to meet the Benna, Tsemay and the Ari people. On the next morning, you visit Dorze village that are famous with their hand craft and house structure. Finally, you fly back to Addis and have   city tour. On the same day night; you have a farewell dinner at on of the traditional restaurant of Addis where you enjoy Ethiopian folkloric dances and traditional dinner.



Remark
Instead of flying, you can drive back to Addis to enjoy the villages that lie in between.

 


 
Itinerary

Day 01(Thursday)

Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to hotel.

Overnight- Jupiter International Hotel/Similar Hotel

Day 02(Friday)

Drive from Addis Ababa to ArbaMinch. En-route you visit Tiya (World Heritage Site by UNSECO). This site is famous for its ancient monolithic stele which is engraved with some fascinating symbols.

 Overnight- Paradise Lodge/Similar Lodge

Day 03 (Saturday)

Drive from ArbaMinch visiting Konso terraced hills, the Konso's chief compound and his chiefly artifacts at Karat Konso; the old fortified Konso town of Dekatu. The Konso people are famous for their traditional terracing system and Waka Totem (Grave Wooden Totem).Then, proceed across Weito valley to Turmi. En-route you visit the beautiful people of Erbore in their village.

Day 04 (Sunday)

Excursion drives to Murule to visit the Karo village at Korcho. Their village is perched in a magnificent setting overlooking the Omo River. The karo are very small in number and they live at the bank of Omo River. During special ceremonies the Karo adore painting themselves in the imitation of the plumage of the guinea fowl. In the afternoon, explore a typical village of the Hammer people.

Day 05 (Monday)

Excursion drives to Omorate to visit the Dassanatch people on the other side of the Omo River. Today is Monday Market at Turmi. Therefore, you will have an opportunity to visit the Hammar people and their local products in their colorful market.

Day 06 (Tuesday)

Leave the heart of the Hammar land across Dimeka and Key Afar to Jinka. En-route you visit the Hammar and Banna cattle herders. On the way there; with a short stop at Dimeka, you visit what is known as Tuesday Women’s Market of the Hammar, Benna and sometimes Tsemay People. In the afternoon, you visit the South Omo People Research Center and Museum in Jinka.

Day 07 (Wednesday)

Excursion drives to visit their different villages of the fascinating Mursi people whose women adore wearing geometrical lip plates in the slits of their lower lips. The drive to the village of these people takes you in the heart of Mago National Park. In the afternoon, you visit the Ari villages, their neat compounds and fertile surroundings.

Overnight- Jinka Resort.

Day 08(Thursday)

Drive down via the Tsemay land and gazing over the terraced hills of the Konso to ArbaMinch. En-route, at Key Afar, you visit the colorful Thursday Market of the Banna, the Tsemay and the Ari people with their local agricultural products.

Day 09 (Friday)

You visit Dorze village that are famous with their hand craft and house structure and have boat trip on Lake Chamo where you have the opportunity to see the great Nile crocodiles and Hippos.

Day 10 (Saturday)

Drive to Addis Ababa through rift valley lakes area .Finally you have a farewell dinner at traditional restaurant of Addis where you enjoy Ethiopian folkloric dancers and traditional dinner then transfer to air port for your departure flight.
