This program will make it possible for you to visit many of the tribes found in the Omo valley. The Erbore, Hammer in Turmi, the Geleb in Omorate, the Karo in Murulle, Again the Hammer in Dimeka ,the Ari in Jinka , the Mursi in Mago , the Konso and Dorze people.

Remark
For those who have more days it is possible to include Yabello.

 


 
Itinerary

Day01

Arrive in Addis Ababa, meet our staff and get transferred to the hotel.

Overnight: Jupiter International Hotel

Day02

Drive from Addis Ababa to Arbaminch. En-route you visit Tiya (World Heritage Site registered by UNSCO). This site is famous for its ancient monolithic stele which is engraved with some fascinating symbols.

Overnight: Swaynes Hotel

Day03

Drive from Arbaminch visiting Konso terraced hills, the Konso's chief compound and his chiefly artifacts at Karat Konso; the old fortified Konso town of Dekatu. The Konso people are famous for their traditional terracing system and Waka Totem (Grave Wooden Totem).Then, proceed across Weito valley to Turmi. En-route you visit the beautiful people of Erbore in their village.

Day 04

Excursion drives to Murule to visit the Karo village at Korcho. Their village is perched in a magnificent setting overlooking the Omo River. The karo are very small in number and they live at the bank of Omo River. During special ceremonies the Karo adore painting themselves in the imitation of the plumage of the guinea fowl. In the afternoon, explore a typical village of the Hammer people.

Day05

Excursion drives to Omorate to visit the Dassanatch people on the other side of the Omo River. Today is Monday Market at Turmi. Therefore, you will have an opportunity to visit the Hammar people and their local products in their colorful market.

Day06

Leave the heart of the Hammar land across Dimeka and Key Afar to Jinka. En-route are the Hammar and Benna cattle herders. On the way there; with a short stop at Dimeka, you visit what is known as Tuesday Women’s Market of the Hammar, Benna and sometimes Tsemay People. In the afternoon, you visit the Ari villages, their neat compounds and fertile surroundings.

Day07

Excursion drives to visit three different villages of the fascinating Mursi people whose women adore wearing geometrical lip plates in the slits of their lower lips. The drive to the village of these people takes you in the heart of Mago National Park.

Day08

Drive down via the Tsemay land and gazing over the terraced hills of the Konso to Arbamich. En-route, at Key Afar, you visit the colorful Thursday Market of the Benna, the Tsemay and the Ari people with their local agricultural products.

Overnight: Swaynes Hotel

Day09

In the morning, drive to the highland people of the Dorze to visit their excellent beehive shaped bamboo houses, fertile grounds of false banana and colorful waving products. Then, in the afternoon, you will have boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit some herds of hippo, aquatic birdlife, and huge sunbathing crocodiles on its shore.

Day10

Drive via the land of Welayta and Oromo people and across the rift valley back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, you are invited farewell dinner in one of the best cultural restaurants of the capital for the country’s traditional dish. Then, transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
