Title:Tour of the Omo Valley Region

On the first day, you arrive in Addis Abeba and meet our representative to get transferred to hotel. On the following day, you drive to Arbaminch by visiting the stele of Tiya. Then, you visit typical Konso and Erbore villages on the way to Turmi. Next, you have an excursion to Koricho village to visit the Karo people who are famous for their body painting tradition. In the afternoon, you visit typical Hammer village near Turmi. On Monday; you have another excursion to Omorate to visit the Dassenetch people known for their hair style. Up on your return, you visit the Turmi market where you meet the Hammer and Benna people. On Tuesday, you visit Dimeka market where, you have access to see different tribes of the surroundings area in one spot. In the afternoon, you visit the South Omo Research Center; after reaching Jinka. Today, you drive across the heart of Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe whose women have a distinctive culture of inserting geometrical lip plates in the slits of their lower lips. In the same afternoon, you visit the fertile village of the Ari people. On Thursday, while you are traveling to Arbaminch, en route you visit Key Afar Market to meet the Benna, Tsemay and the Ari people. On the next day, you visit the Dorze village with their unique handcraft and house structure. In the afternoon, you have boat trip on Lake Chamo where you have the opportunity to see the great Nile crocodiles and Hippos. Finally, you drive back to Addis Abeba across the Rift Valley; at the evening, you have a farewell dinner at one of the traditional restaurant in the capital. Transfer to airport to catch your flight home. 


 
Itinerary

Day 1) Thursday

Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to hotel.

Overnight: Jupiter International Hotel

Day 2) Friday

Drive from Addis Ababa to Arbaminch. En-route you visit Tiya (World Heritage Site by UNSCO). This site is famous for its ancient monolithic stele which is engraved with some fascinating symbols.

Overnight: Swaynes Hotel

Day 3) Saturday

Drive from Arbaminch visiting Konso terraced hills, the Konso's chief compound and his chiefly artifacts at Karat Konso; the old fortified Konso town of Dekatu. The Konso people are famous for their traditional terracing system and Waka Totem (Grave Wooden Totem).Then, proceed across Weito valley to Turmi. En-route you visit the beautiful people of Erbore in their village.

Day 4) Sunday

Excursion drives to Murule to visit the Karo village at Korcho. Their village is perched in a magnificent setting overlooking the Omo River. The karo are very small in number and they live at the bank of Omo River. During special ceremonies the Karo adore painting themselves in the imitation of the plumage of the guinea fowl. In the afternoon, explore a typical village of the Hammer people.

Day 5) Monday

Excursion drives to Omorate to visit the Dassanatch people on the other side of the Omo River. Today is Monday Market at Turmi. Therefore, you will have an opportunity to visit the Hammar people and their local products in their colorful market.

Day 6) Tuesday

Leave the heart of the Hammar land across Dimeka and Key Afar to Jinka. En-route are the Hammar and Banna cattle herders. On the way there; with a short stop at Dimeka, you visit what is known as Tuesday Women’s Market of the Hammar, Benna and sometimes Tsemay People. In the afternoon, you visit the South Omo People Research Center and Museum in Jinka.

Day 7) Wednesday

Excursion drives to visit three different villages of the fascinating Mursi people whose women adore wearing geometrical lip plates in the slits of their lower lips. The drive to the village of these people takes you in the heart of Mago National Park. In the afternoon, you visit the Ari villages, their neat compounds and fertile surroundings.

Overnight: Jinka Resort

Day 8) Thursday

Drive down via the Tsemay land and gazing over the terraced hills of the Konso to Arbamich. En-route, at Key Afar, you visit the colorful Thursday Market of the Banna, the Tsemay and the Ari people with their local agricultural products.

Day 9) Friday

In the morning, drive to the highland people of the Dorze to visit their excellent beehive shaped bamboo houses, fertile grounds of false banana and colorful waving products. Then, in the afternoon, you will have boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit some herds of hippo, aquatic birdlife, and huge sunbathing crocodiles on its shore.

Day 10) Saturday

Drive via the land of Welayta and Oromo people and across the rift valley back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, you will be invited farewell dinner in one of the best traditional restaurants of the capital. Then, transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
