Up on your arrival you will transfer to hotel on your own. On September 10, 2011; you drive to the town of Bahir Dar. En route you enjoy the scenery of Blue Nile Gorge. Next morning, you drive about 32 Km and visit the Blue Nile Falls (This Falls is particularly spectacular during the rainy season of June, July and August).In the afternoon,  boat trip  on Lake Tana  by visiting the monasteries of Ura Kidane Meheret and Azwa Mariam. Then, you drive to the medieval city of Gondar. In Gondar, you visit the magnificent Imperial Castles compound which was the center of politics in the first half of 17thC.Also you visit the bath of King Fasiledas and the most famous church of Debrebirhan sellassie to admire the Ethiopian church paintings style in its superb form. On the next day, you drive to the ancient city of Aksum across the scenic road of Lima limo and Tekezze river gorge. In Aksum, you visit its historical and archeological site which includes the magnificent Obelisks of Aksum and Aksum Tsion church. Next, you drive to the town of Adigrat by visiting the 6thc Yeha temple. Then, you drive to the city of Mekelle. On the next day, you drive to the historic town of Lalibela. En- route you have an excursion to the beautiful built up church of Yemerhane Kirstos. In the morning, you visit the marvelous rock hewn churches of King Lalibela, one of the world Heritage sites registered by UNSCO. Next you drive to the town of Kombolcha through small towns of Wollo province including the historical town of Wuchale, where the controversial Treaty of Wuchale is signed between Emperor Menelik of Ethiopia and Italy which ultimately led to the famous battle of Adwa in 1896. Finally you drive back to Addis Ababa via the Rift Valley and have a fare well dinner at one of the cultural restaurant of the capital. End of service.


 
Itinerary

Day 01: Saturday Sep 10, 2011

In late afternoon you drive to Bahir Dar because of domestic flight problem. Then, proceed along the rolling plateaus and farm lands of Gojjam to Bahirdar.

Day 02: Sunday Sep 11, 2011

In the morning, drive to the magnificent Blue Nile Falls; it is about 400 meter wide with full flood (in June, July and August to mid September). In the afternoon, set out for a boat trip on Lake Tana to see beautiful island monasteries and their valuable treasures which include biblical wall paintings, crowns of different Ethiopian Kings, ancient illuminated parchment books, superb crosses etc.  Then, drive to Gondar.

Day 03: Monday Sep 12, 2011

In the morning, after breakfast  tour of Gondar which includes the visit the Royal Enclosure with its magnificent castles dated from the 17th and 18th century (world heritage site), the bath of king Fasiledes, the remarkable church of Debrebrihan Selassie with its breathtaking 17th century wall and ceiling paintings.

Day 04: Tuesday Sep 13, 2011

Drive from Gondar via Debark by admiring the unique scenery of Semien Mountain national park. Leave the Semien Mountains via one of the most scenic roads of Ethiopia called Limalimo and the spectacular Tekeze Gorge to Axum. En route, on your right side of the road, you will have chance to gaze over parts of the Semien Mountains.

Day 05: Wednesday Sep 14, 2011

Visit of Axum (World Heritage Site) which includes the famous stele park with its huge monolithic obelisks, the ruined palace of the Queen of Sheba, ancient stone inscriptions, the ruined palace of king kaleb and his son, subterranean tombs of different Axumite kings, the church of St. Mary of Zion which is believed to house the Original Ark of the covenant etc. In the afternoon, drive about 58km northeast of Adwa to visit the ancient Temple of Yeha (5th. C.BC), Yeha was the first capital of the country and considered as the birth place of earliest civilization of Ethiopia. You will enjoy also by attractive Tigrayan scenery. Then you continue driving to Mekelle.

Day 06: Thursday Sep 15, 2011

After early breakfast leave to Lalibela passing through the stunning scenery of the North central Massif and the Tigrean plateau on the way you visit to the beautiful built up church of Yemerhane Kirstos and arriving Lalibela on  late afternoon.

Day 07: Friday Sep 16, 2011

Visit the first and second groups of King Lalibela's 12th.C.Rockhewn churches (World Heritage Site). Although all of these churches are carved out of huge blocks of rocks, each of them displays unique architectural features from the other. After you finalize the tour of Lalibela drive to Kombolcha via many small towns of Wollo province including the historical town of Wuchale, where the controversial Treaty of Wuchale is signed between Emperor Menelik of Ethiopia and Italy which ultimately led to the famous battle of Adwa in 1896.

Day 08: Saturday Sep 17, 2011

Drive back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, you invited dinner in one of the best cultural restaurants of the capital for traditional Ethiopia dish. End of service.
